Tata Communications Prizes
Tata Communications, a TATA group company facilitated a donation channelisation programme called Wish Tree, which enabled their employees to contribute to Vidyarambam. A sum of Rs. 99,500 was collected.Going by the wishes of the company and the donors, VT was asked to make the amount reach directly to the children. VT felt at it should also reward students who have shown visible advancement from our Easy Learning English (ELE) programme in the Chennai schools. It was therefore decided that 400 students who have secured A grade in the mid-term test for ELE in the on going course will be rewarded from the proceeds of donation from Tata Communications.
As also to encourage reading amongst the students, it was decided that story books procured from PRATHAM shall be given as prizes. Each prize unit was a pack of 10 story books, with a pack valued around Rs.250. Prizes were distributed in January 2014 in 11 schools where Vidyarambam runs its ELE programme in the current academic year.
